QUEZON CITY, The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and its newly attached agencies will continue to push its campaign for federalism and cultural reforms, Secretary Eduardo Ano said in an event held at the Multi Purpose Hall of the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame recently.

Ano said with the addition of the other agencies under his supervision-including the National Youth Commission (NYC), National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW)-the DILG can work on pushing for the federalism campaign and cultural reforms that are people focused, multi-sectoral, and mass-based.

"All the organic offices and agencies currently under the supervision of the DILG must work together to provide the best public service," the official added.

The cornerstone of the President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's change agenda is the shift from a unitary to a federal system of government, to which, the DILG has taken the lead in a nationwide campaign to inform and educate the public about the merits of federalism.

"We need one another to work together to effect change," Ano said.

He also reminded everyone in attendance that the DILG would be tougher and uncompromising with LGU officials.

"Mas mahalaga na napapakinabangan ng mamamayan ang mga proyekto," Ano said. He said that there won't be any let up in the anti corruption campaign. "Tanggalin ang mga tiwaling manggagawa sa pamahalaan," he said.

"Reforms must be carried out without doubt and the concerned agencies must serve as bastions of excellence," he added. (PIA-NCR)
